year-end stuff

I had hoped to make a lovely montage with photos of what we've been doing all these weeks when I've been slacking on blogging.  This, however, makes much better reading.

At any rate, the kids just finished school, we had all kinds of end-of-year events to participate in, as well as the usual playing-in-the-mud kind of thing.

a neighbor lets us use her backyard to play in, to fish in her (hand-dug) pond,
and then feed the fishies to her chickens.  This is our kind of fun.

(I mostly skip out on the fishing part to do the reading-novel-part.)
