lost her touch?

When there's a three year old in the house, it is important to keep valuables tucked away and out of sight. Just in case, you know, they get thrown out of a window or something... But the opposite principle is at work when it comes to fostering creativity. If there are no supplies on hand, no one will be inspired.

...or will they?
A conversation from earlier this week:
L.: "Mommy, I'm getting a little worried. In Denver, I used to be really creative, but here I hardly do any crafts at all!"
Me: "Well, honey, it's harder now. We didn't bring a lot of supplies with us this year so unless you find more ideas of things to do with just pencil and paper and scissors..."

So she did:

What do you say, folks? Creativity intact?
How about showing some love and leaving L. a comment with a note about which one is your favorite!

Wow! I love this! It reminds me of this German decorative art (elaborate paper-cutting) my mom used to do and I tried my hand at when I was younger called scherenschnitte.

I don't think I could pick a favorite - but I really like the peacocks and tiger.

Could L teach me her decorative art? I like dolphins and kids holding hands. Definitely no need for fancy supplies. Bravo

I love the dolphins, L. Nice work! You don't have to worry about you're creativity. It will go with you no matter where you are because it's deep inside you.

You are amazing, L! But we all knew that already because we know your amazing mommy & daddy who are passing on all their creative skills to you!

Those are incredible! Elia loves the people, Josie the dolphins, my favorite is the bird/turkey thing and Mike likes the frog who looks like he's on the wrong end of a stick up.

Super cool!

I'm partial to the frog too. Wouldn't mind owning one some day, in fact.

If L ever wants to be an illustrator, I think she could start right away. I am amazed!
